Dorset College was established in April 1981. It is one of the oldest private Colleges in Vancouver, Canada.

1992 - The Canadian Embassy in Thailand offers two scholarships to study at Dorset College.

Aug. 1994 - Dorset College enters into an agreement with Marshall University in West Virginia, USA.

Nov. 1999 - Dorset College enters into an agreement with the University of Manitoba, a Canadian public university. Graduates of Dorset's two-year Post-Secondary Program may transfer as third-year students to the Bachelor of Commerce Honours Degree Program at the University of Manitoba's Faculty of Management.

Dec. 2000 - Dorset College enters into an agreement with the British Columbia Institute of Technology's School of Transportation. Dorset College is now responsible for recruiting international students for BCIT's Aircraft Maintenance Engineering Program.

Apr. 2001 - Dorset College's twentieth anniversary. Former Prime Minister Jean Chretien and Governor-General Adrienne Clarkson both send letters of congratulations.

2002 - Dorset signs agreements with various Canadian and American Universities including: Bishop's University, the University College of the Cariboo, Athabasca University, the DeVry Institute of Technology, and City University.

May 2002 - Dorset College signs an agreement with Simon Fraser University, a leading Canadian public university, providing students with the opportunity to study in the SFU English Bridge Program.

May 2002 - Dorset's first group of students transfers to the Simon Fraser University English Bridge Program.

May 2002 - Dorset College signs an agreement with the French Immersion Program at Université Laval in Quebec a Canadian public university.

Sep. 2002 - The first group of students transfers to the University of Manitoba, a Canadian public university, to complete their Bachelor of Commerce Degree.

Oct. 2002 - The first group of international students transfers to the British Columbia Institute of Technology to continue the Aircraft Maintenance Program.

Dec. 2002 - Dorset College signs an agreement with Acadia University in Wolfville, Nova Scotia, a Canadian public university, providing students the opportunity to transfer to all degree programs.

Jan. 2003 - Dorset College signs an agreement with the Cape Breton University, a Canadian public university, (CBU) in Sydney, Nova Scotia, providing students the opportunity to transfer to the School of Business.

May 2003 - The first group of Dorset College students transfers to the University College of the Cariboo (UCC) for the Bachelor of Science (Computing) Program.

Jul. 2003 - Dorset College signs an agreement with Cape Breton University (CBU) in Sydney, Nova Scotia, providing Dorset Pre-Master students the opportunity to transfer to the Master of Business Administration (MBA) Program.

Jul. 2003 - The first group of Dorset College Pre-Master students transfers to the Cape Breton University to enter the Master of Business Administration (MBA) program.

Sep. 2003 - The first group of Dorset College students transfers to Acadia University into the second and third year in the Bachelor of Business Administration and Bachelor of Arts Program.

Dec. 2003 - Dorset College forms a strategic partnership with Cape Breton University establishing the Cape Breton University Vancouver program. Dorset students have the opportunity to study their first two years of university at Dorset College and then complete the last two years of their Bachelor's degree with CBU in either Vancouver, British Columbia or Sydney, Nova Scotia.

Jan. 2004 - The BCIT School of Transportation signed an agreement with Dorset College providing international students the first Pre-Diploma phase of the Automotive Service Technician (AST) program at Dorset College. International students are required to complete the Pre-Diploma Phase at Dorset College before transferring to BCIT to complete the Automotive Service Technician (AST) Program.

Sep. 2004 - The Cape Breton University Vancouver Degree Program opens. The first intake of students included both local Canadian students as well as international transfer students from Dorset College. Available majors include Accounting and Marketing.

Sep. 2004 - Dorset College's first group of Automotive Service Technician (AST) students transfer to BCIT in August 2004 for the 90-week program. All students from the first group received their Canadian Work Permit.

Nov. 2004 - Dorset College signs an agreement with Dalhousie University, one Canada's leading public leading universities for the Bachelor of Science Transfer Degree Program. Qualified students are eligible to transfer to the second year of their Bachelor of Science degree at Dalhousie University upon successful completion of the one-year Dorset College Science Diploma.

Nov. 2004 - The Dorset College Dalhousie University Transfer Program accepts the first intake of students. Qualified students will transfer into the second year of their Bachelor of Science degree at Dalhousie University upon successful completion of the Dorset College Science Diploma.

January 2005 – Dorset College donated $2000 to the Canadian Red Cross for its efforts in South Asia after the Tsunami in December 2004.

April 2005 - Dorset College signs an agreement with Cape Breton University providing students with the opportunity to study in the 3-year Hospitality and Tourism Management Degree Program.

August 2005 – Dorset/Dalhousie transfer students leave for a cross-Canada trip to Dalhousie University, accompanied with Dalhousie University Representative, Mindy Oulton. The first group of students transferred to Dalhousie University to complete their Bachelor of Science Degree.

August 2005 - Dorset College moves into the 3-storey campus located at 1885 West Broadway and Cypress.

September 2006 - The new program Airport Operations was introduced in Dec2006. This BCIT/Dorset College program provides international students with an exciting challenge. This program is offered in two phases. The first phase is the pre-diploma phase which is 26 weeks long and takes place at Dorset College. The second phase is the Diploma phase. This 16 month program is completed at BCIT. International students are required to complete the Pre-Diploma Phase at Dorset College before transferring to BCIT to complete the Airport Operations Program.

Septermber 2009 -- Dorset College succeeds in becoming an accredited institution through the Private Career Training Institutions Agency of British Columbia (PCTIA). PCTIA operates under the authority of the British Columbia Ministry of Advanced Education and grants accreditation to B.C. institutions that meet high quality assurance standards in education.
